Gaynor Richfield

Gaynor Richfield has had an interesting and varied career. Born and brought up not too far away from Llangedwyn, in Wrexham. Following three years at the Rose Bruford Drama college, Gaynor spent a further three years teaching drama before going into the professional theatre. After enjoying many years in provincial theatre, the West End of London, television and touring throughout the U.K. and Ireland, Gaynor returned to the area with her late husband, actor Edwin Richfield and converted the Old Mill at Penybont into a home.

Gaynor & Edwin were instrumental in setting up the community theatre, known as The Tanat Theatre, based in The Old Green School, Llanrhaeadr Ym Mochnant. The theatre involves a cross section of the community and covers a wide age range, from 7 years to 60+. Gaynor also set up a successful Shrewsbury business called "Sign of the Vine" which specialised in wine and beer making supplies. After ten years Gaynor sold the business and then became interested in travel. She now organises overland continental tours which include the former Eastern Block countries. The first Eastern Block tour was a 21 day coach tour across the continent into Russia. Through this venture Tanat Valley Coaches became this first British coach company to cross the Baltic from Gdansk to Helsinki.

Having been commissioned to set up next years tours programme for Tanat Tours and write the brochure, Gaynor found her own rather old word processor somewhat inadequate. Gaynor is also a part time Recruitment Consultant with her step-daughters' highly successful Recruitment Agency. Computers play an important role in the agency and Gaynor did not enjoy being one of the computer "illiterate" and the butt of jokes from younger staff.

Aware of the facilities at Llangedwyn Telecentre, Gaynor took the opportunity to learn some more skills by following the basic computer course. Gaynor is now able to present C.V's for her candidates at the agency and is preparing the Tanat Tours '97 brochure. When asked what she had gained from the course Gaynor replied, "Most of all it has dispelled the fear of the equipment and opened up another avenue of interest and fascination."
