The Lee Family Style of Taoist Arts

A range of Taoist Health, Cultural and Wu Shu Arts collectively known as the Eight Strands of the Brocade have been passed down within the Lee Family of Wei Hei Wei in North Eatern China for 3000 years. The style remained exclusive to the Lee family until the 1930's when it was first brought to Britain by Professor Lee Chan Kam. When Lee Chan Kam died in 1953, the arts were passed on to his adoptive nephew Master Chee Soo who taught the system until his death in 1994.

Professor Chee Soo.

After Master Chee Soo's death, 30 of his Tengchi (teacher) grades approached Tony Swanson, one of his senior instructors, to lead an organisation dedicated to teaching the system in a professional manner whilst preserving the purity and quality of the arts. As a result the Taoist Arts Organisation was formed in February 1995. Within a month a further 30 of Chee Soo's qualified instructors had joined.

The Taoist Arts Organisation was established to ensure the highest standards of teaching of the Lee Family System of Health and Martial Arts. The organisation is run by an administrative committee and a technical team headed by the Technical Director, Tony Swanson. All our instructors are qualified, have passed Health and Safety / First Aid exams, are fully insured and regularly attend courses specifically for instructors.

The Taoist Arts Organisation is an official N.V.Q. centre, members of the A.M.A. and the B.C.C.M.A. Also members of the U.K.M.A.F. and a full I.T.E.C. college for the teaching of the Anmo - the Taoist Massage system.
