Faye Gardner, a graduate in Creative Arts spent five months with the Creative Publishing Company in Leintwardine, Shropshire. Acting as Assistant Editor, she was responsible for the design of children's books, assisting in the preparation of the manuscript and picture research.

Eric Leblond, an Industrial Systems Engineer from the Ecole des Mines of Nantes, France, worked for Brixton Pottery in Herefordshire for three months. Brixton pottery is a small ceramics company where Eric's task was to help them apply for a DTI SMART award for a major research and development project into automating their production processes. He helped them to prepare the application and to develop a prototype robot arm, working drawings and manuals.

The Government assessors said it was one of the best they had ever received - and Brixton Pottery received their award. Alex Dufort, Managing Director, said "Having an outstanding young engineer was of enormous help. Small companies like Brixton Pottery would not normally be able to afford this type of expert assistance."

Ayako Shimada studied English and American Culture at Musashi University before working for a prestigious Japanese department store. Her significant management experience is being put to good use at Brobury House near Hereford. She is responsible for managing the company's conferences and marketing the luxurious facilities of this attractive Country house to the Japanese tourist and business market.
